Tellington TTEAM - Horse Clinic
Connect, Train, Comfort

September 25 at 4:00p.m. through September 29 at 11:00 a.m.2018
Marcy Baer will host a Tellington TTEAM horse clinic at Mountain Horse Farm.  Tellington TTEAM is the Tellington TTouch method for Horses. Marcy is EQ Practitioner 3 certified.

This three-day introductory workshop counts toward certification in the Practitioner Training Program.  Two-3 day clinics are permitted to replace one of the required 6-day trainings of the certification program.

TTEAM, Tellington TTouch Equine Awareness Method, offers a training approach that encourages optimal performance and health and presents solutions to common behavioral and physical problems. TTEAM horses demonstrate marked improvement in athletic skills and increased willingness and ability to perform. Not only does the horse benefit, but also a deeper rapport grows between horse and rider because of increased understanding and more effective communication.

TTEAM is an extremely effective way of working with horses. After attending one or two clinics you may wish to incorporate TTEAM into your own training programs or with your horse-related activities such as 4-H groups, Pony Clubs or Therapeutic Riding. TTeam encourages and appreciates the integration of TTEAM in these ways.

The TTEAM method has 3 elements:
  • Tellington TTouches
  • Ground work
  • Riding
In this clinic we will focus on the first two, TTouches & Ground work. The clinic will not involve riding horses.

TTouches help to relieve tension, bracing, fear of contact, soreness or discomfort in the horse’s body. It can enhance a horse’s movement, improve his balance and responsiveness. TTouch body work can transform nervous, spooky or resistant horses and its use can improve a horse’s attitude and behavior. TTouch can enhance your horse‘s cooperation, willingness and ability to learn. TTouch has been used extensively to speed healing and recovery from injury and illness.

With the TTEAM approach, a series of Ground Exercises enable a horse to override old patterns and to learn without fear or force. Using a variety of obstacles including labyrinth, ground poles and plastic, TTEAM exercises result in self-control, focus, self-confidence, cooperation, balance and coordination.

Join us for this wonderful, all-inclusive workshop, which includes hands on training by Marcy, starting with a meet & greet on Tuesday afternoon, followed by three full days of teaching on Wednesday, Thursday & Friday. Your accommodations for Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday & Friday night are included, as well as evening bonfires to have fun together and reflect on the day, and all delicious meals starting with dinner on the first night and ending with breakfast on the last morning. For sleeping, you have your choice of elegant rooms with fireplaces and outdoor hot tubs, to glamping in tipis (yes, tipis!) – your choice. The number of participants is kept low at 6-8 so everybody will get lots of quality time with the clinician.

You will work with our herd of horses. It is not an option to bring your own. This clinic does not involve riding horses.

Private accommodations for workshops participants only, including the Lodge, Carriage House, Tipis and Horse barn & Arena. No other guests will be staying during these days.
About Marcy Baer:
I love working with horses. I love the feeling of riding or driving a confident, soft, responsive, willing and content horse. I have worked with horses all my life and make my living breeding, training and coaching riders and drivers. I’ve worked with thousands of horses and I’ve studied with top, knowledgeable trainers in the US & Europe. I have investigated many training techniques, traditional, classical and contemporary. It is however, always the work of Linda Tellington–Jones that I return to and is the foundation of my work with horses whether that is basic handling, initial breaking in, or bringing and keeping a horse to a high level of performance.
Why I use TTEAM
  • Clarity. Using TTEAM Techniques I am able to be clear in my requests and communication with the horse. I can develop a language with the horse that is easily understood. I find that horses are able to relax and respond willingly because I have consistent, clear signals.
  • Communication, is a two way process. Not only am I able to be clear in my requests, with a TTEAM education I am able to notice and be aware of what a horse is “saying”. By being aware of the horse’s posture, breathing, or tension pattern, I can respond to their level of comfort, and understanding. I know when they are ready to move on in their training and when I need to take more time and “chunk down” the process.
  • Comprehensive. TTEAM gives me an integrative picture of my horses. Poor performance, unwillingness and behavioral issues can stem from tension in the horse. TTEAM gives me the ability to notice and change tension and bracing patterns, thus I can change the whole picture for my horses – their ability to move well, respond to my aids, their confidence level, and their overall happiness.
  • Mindfulness. Part of the joy of working with horses is that they are so totally in the present moment. When I am doing TTOUCH body work, TTEAM groundwork, and TTEAM riding in harmony, I am focused and thoroughly connected to my horses in the present moment.
  • It works! Bringing a horse along in a TTEAM way gives the horses a very solid foundation to build on whether they go on to compete or to be a back yard friend. The horses are relaxed and confident because they know what is expected of them. They become willing to learn. TTEAM gives me a unique way of seeing, understanding and unraveling problems and stumbling blocks that might arise in a horse’s career.
  • TTEAM is consistent with how I want to be in the world. The writer Henry James said, “Three things in human life are important: the first is to be kind; the second is to be kind; and the third is to be kind.” TTEAM tools and techniques give me the ability to train and develop horses with a fundamental kindness and open heart. It is a model based on connectedness, understanding and communication, never dominance or force.
